March 22, 2013- Final Closure List Released - Earlier this afternoon, the FAA informed airports of its final decision on tower closures. Only  24 airports' appeals were granted to maintain federal funding for operations through the Federal Contract Tower Program.
March 21, 2013- Petition Urging White House to Keep Towers Open - There is currently a petition on the White House website asking the Administration to prevent tower closures. In order to receive a response, it must get 100,000 signatures by April 4. Click here and sign today.
March 21, 2013- No Vote on Contract Tower Amendment - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has just announced there will be no vote on the Moran Amendment to keep 173 control towers open, and no vote on any amendment that would allow the Administration flexibility to shift the effects of sequestration.  GAAC thanks Senator Jerry Moran for his leadership and determination. And, we thank you for your hard work. We will keep you posted on next steps.

GAAC’s mission is to preserve and promote our nation’s general aviation airports.

  • Unify the voice of GA airports to support legislation and policies that benefit GA airports
  • Promote awareness of the economic impact of GA airports
  • Share best practices and information regarding the day-to-day operations of GA airports
  • Host monthly conference calls to discuss issues of importance to GA airports and to provide updates on relevant federal legislative and policy issues.
