The Apple AirPort is a celebrated, modern router that looks good and functions how it should. Sadly, it’s been discontinued. And with the rise of mesh Wi-Fi systems and superpowered gigabit routers, a slightly outdated (yet surprisingly expensive) AirPort may not be worth your time.

I’m still using my AirPort Extreme that I bought 7 years ago. Everything still works great. The AirPort app (on iOS and macOS alike) is a breeze to use. Apple still occasionally releases firmware updates for the hardware, and 802.11ac on a 5GHz signal will probably suffice for home wifi for several years to come.
